The objective of this summit is to spotlight the economic upswing in Lorain's downtown entertainment district. Downtown Lorain is adjacent to the Black River. The progress in the restoration of the Black Rivers health is starting the restoration and revitalization of downtown. The event is a celebration and informative gathering of all the time and work revitalizing the Black River. Put on by collaborating partnerships with the Black River Area Of Concern Advisory Committee, Lorain County Commissioners, City of Lorain, and LoCo 'Yaks.

Highlighting the goal of redesignating the Black River from an Area of Concern to a River in Recovery. Presentations will be given on the timeline of this redesignation. There will also be information about the individual projects in all the varying phases of completion.

School On The Water

Educational Kayak Trip with our facilitating organization, LoCo 'Yaks Kayak & Paddlesports Group

Using Amherst and Keystone High School students for a pilot project, the LoCo 'Yaks led an outdoor classroom session. Marrying classroom subject matter with experiencing these topics on the Black River, were designed to help facilitate learning subject matter while developing a love and understanding for local resources. The students then had to present a project conveying their thoughts about the Black River. These projects will be on display.

Virtual River Tours

LoCo 'Yaks Kayak & Paddlesports Group

Utilizing a 360Fly 360°camera, experience life on the Black River through a Virtual Reality Headset. This technology enables users views of the Black River, the projects, and wildlife to those that may not be able to access it in real life. Clean Marinas and Coastal Management

Ohio Department of Natural Resources

There are many ways in which ODNR comes to the aid of the Black River and Lake Erie. Clean Marinas is a designation that marinas strive for and is an important classification. This is important for the marinas and our waterways. ODNR will also be on hand to talk about their Coastal Management Program.
